Hardware Engineer Intern - IoT & PCB Design

Role Overview

We're hiring Hardware Engineer Interns from the 2025/2026/2027 graduating batch to support IoT device and PCB design - from schematic capture and layout to prototyping, bring-up, and testing. You'll work alongside senior hardware engineers on real embedded/IoT products, gaining hands-on exposure to the full hardware development lifecycle.

Eligibility

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's/Master's degree in Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation, or related field, graduating in 2025, 2026 or 2027
  • Available for a 6-month internship, with the start date confirmed during the interview process
  • Open to both PPO-track interns (pre-placement offer potential) and short-term interns, depending on your program structure

Responsibilities

  • Assist in schematic design and PCB layout (multi-layer boards) using tools like Altium, KiCad, or Eagle
  • Support component selection, BOM creation, and datasheet review
  • Help with PCB bring-up, debugging, and testing (multimeter, oscilloscope, logic analyzer)
  • Assist in interfacing sensors, microcontrollers, and communication modules
  • Support firmware-hardware integration testing for IoT devices
  • Help prepare test reports, documentation, and design files
  • Collaborate with firmware and mechanical teams on enclosure/fit checks and DFM (Design for Manufacturing)

Required Skills

  • Basic understanding of analog/digital circuit design and PCB layout fundamentals
  • Familiarity with PCB design tools (Altium Designer, KiCad, Eagle, or similar)
  • Understanding of embedded communication protocols: I2C, SPI, UART, CAN
  • Exposure to microcontrollers (STM32, ESP32, Arduino, etc.)
  • Basic use of lab equipment: multimeter, oscilloscope, power supply
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn hands-on hardware debugging

Nice to Have

  • Experience with IoT connectivity modules (Wi-Fi, BLE, cellular/LTE, LoRaWAN)
  • Exposure to power electronics, battery management, or low-power design
  • Familiarity with signal integrity, EMI/EMC basics
  • Personal projects involving PCB design, sensor integration, or IoT prototypes
  • Basic scripting (Python) for test automation or data logging
